Frequently Asked Questions

Non-members are welcome to try a few rides before joining the club. All that we ask is that you have third party insurance cover, Cycling UK or British Cycling will provide this as part of your membership.

Buxton CC membership renewal and annual subscription is due on 1st January each year.

Adult membership is £12 plus an application fee of £1.

Junior membership (16-18 year olds) is £5 plus a £1 application fee.

Juvenile membership (under 16) is £1 plus a £1 application fee.

Family membership is £15 plus a £1 application fee.

We organise many events from CLUB RIDES to elite level time trials. We aim to cater for all ages and abilities and will inform you of the fitness required for anything you take part in.
There are club time trials each week during the summer, which you can ride at a reduced entry fee once you have joined, but do come and have a go anyway.
members compete for a range of club awards at the end of the year. You may also be asked to volunteer to help with various events during the year.

It is compulsory that you have appropriate Public Liability (3rd Party) Insurance cover to take part in club activities. This can be obtained from British Cycling as an option at the time of your annual club subscription. Or from  Cycling UK

New members joining Buxton CC and paying their subscription during October, November or December will automatically also be members for the following year.

You will find other club members are very friendly and always willing to answer any questions about cycling.

Not at all, many members never race and join purely for the social rides. However members do take part in a variety of racing disciplines including road racing, time trials, cyclo-cross, MTB and sportives etc. so if you do wish to give it a go there will always be others to help and advise you how to get started. There are club time trials each week during the summer months which are a great introduction to the sport and you will be welcome to give it a go.
